South Tipperary Alcohol & Addiction Treatment ServiceĀ
Addiction Services support the provision of an integrated range of preventative, therapeutic and rehabilitation services to meet the diverse health and social care needs of service users in an accountable, accessible and equitable manner. Addiction Services are provided through the HSE’s network of 32 Local Health Offices, and can be contacted through Local Health Offices.
HSE Substance Misuse Service, South Tipperary is a free community based drug and alcohol service for young people and adults affected by alcohol and substance misuse. The service provides confidential drug and alcohol treatment services. Support is also provided to friends, families and carers.
Services offered include:
- Screening, assessment and care planning
- Substance misuse counselling for adults and adolescents
- Detoxification support
- Opiate substitute treatment
- Access to drug information and education
- Group support
- Needle exchange
- Connection to community support services
- Satellite clinics in Tipperary town, Cashel, Carrick-on-SiĆŗir, and Mullinahone
- Drop In clinic in Clonmel
- Drop In service for Polish and Russian speaking individuals
The Youth Outreach and Family Support Project operates within the HSE Substance Misuse Service.Ā The project aims to support young people, aged 12-25 years, who are actively misusing substances and their families.Ā It does this through the following interventions:
- Family Intervention sessions
- Brief Intervention
- Education Programmes
- Sand Tray therapy
- Harm Reduction
- One to one key-working and care-planning
- Referral to Tier 4 (residential) services
Target Groups:
- Young People over 16
- Young People under 16 with parental/ carer consent
- Concerned people
- Families
Referral:Ā Self-referral, Referral by other agencies. After the person is referred,Ā s/he can agree to an assessment to identify the appropriate service to match his/her needs. Once an assessment is made, an appropriate care/treatment plan is decided and a key worker can be assigned to work with the person to address his/her needs accordingly. Where required a service user may be offered a more detailed assessment.
